Ardbeg 1972 Douglas Laing 29 Year Old 75cl / The Ardbeggeddon​

A sherry cask Ardbeg, distilled in 1972 and bottled in November 2001 at 29 years old by Douglas Laing.

Specially selected for the Plowed Society by The Whisky Shop to commemorate The Ardbeggeddon gathering in Las Vegas in 2002.

Ardbeg Lord of the Isles 25 Year Old 4 x 70cl​

A highly sought after and iconic Ardbeg, released between 2002 and 2007.

Named after the 'Lord of the Isles' who ruled the Western Isles and parts of Argyll between the 12th and 15th Centuries.

The bottles in this lot all come from one single case that was delivered straight to seller from the distributor. Release L7

Yamazaki 25 Year Old

As we all know Yamazaki has ascended into one of the most desirable and sought after whiskies in the world.

Ardbeg 1967 Signatory Vintage 30 Year Old / Dark Oloroso Cask

A legendary Ardbeg, awarded an impressive 92 points by Serge Valentin at Whisky Fun.

Distilled on the 22nd March 1967 and matured in a single dark Oloroso sherry butt #1140 for 30 years before bottling on 15th December 1997 by Signatory Vintage.

Yamazaki 25 Year Old

As we all know Yamazaki has ascended into one of the most desirable and sought after whiskies in the world.

This 25 year old is matured exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks and presented in a very elegant, simple box.

Ainslie's Kings Legend Finest Scotch Whisky 1950s

An old spring-cap bottle of Ainslie's King's Legend Blend. This is a famous blend containing high quantities of Clynelish.

This bottle has no volume or ABV measurements.

Ardbeg 1975 Duthie for Corti 11 Year Old 75cl / US Import​

Distilled in 1975 by Ardbeg Distillery Ltd and bottled in 1986 as an 11 Year Old.

Selected by Darrell Corti especially for Corti Borthers, Sacramento.

Independently bottled Ardbegs are exceptionally rare in themselves, with this being up there as one of the rarest.

Talisker 1952 Gordon and MacPhail 21 Year Old​ / Pinerolo​ Import

This Talisker was distilled on Skye in 1952 and bottled as 21 year old by Gordon and MacPhail using their Connoisseur's Choice branding in the 1970s.

Bottle number 633.

Pinerolo Italian Import. These particular bottlings all scored between 90 and 94 points when reviewed by Serge Valentin for Whiskyfun.com. Very impressive indeed!

An 18 year old malt from the oldest whisky distillery in Japan. In order to create the expression, Suntory’s chief blender Shinji Fukuyo tasted a hundreds of mizunara-matured whiskies and selected casks with varying ages.

Mizunara oak is incredibly rare.

Distilled March 1967 and matured for 32 years before being bottled in November 1999 by Douglas Laing within their Old Malt Cask series.

Talisker 1955 Gordon MacPhail Secret Stills No. 1.1​

As with the rest of the Secret Stills range the distillery is at which this single malt was produced is a feircly guarded secret.. They do, however, offer a clue that it was distilled at Carbost on the Isle of Skye. Will we ever solve this mystery?

This Talis... *AHEM* secret Skye malt, was distilled in 1955 and bottled by Gordon and MacPhail circa 50 years later in 2005.

At half a century old, this is a genuine rarity.

An independent bottle from Ardbeg distilled in 1967 and bottled 32 years later for SCOMA GmbH in Germany.

A.H. Hirsch Reserve 1974 16 Year Old Bourbon / 2003 Release

A legendary bottle of Bourbon that has had a whole book written about itself: \"The Best Bourbon You'll Never Taste\" by Charles K Cowdery

Distilled in Spring 1974, this bourbon is bottled from a single 400 barrel batch commissioned by Adolph Hirsch and distilled under contract at Bomberger's distillery, just outside Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania (The home of Michter's whisky).

This is the 2003 bottling, produced by Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, Kentucky, referred to in inner circles as 'gold foil'. Responsibility for the earlier bottle was undertake by Julian Van Winkle III, however Sazerac acquiring the Pappy Van Winkle brand in 2003 meant that this had to change.

In his book Cowdery refers to the bourbon as one of the \"best whiskeys I've ever tasted.\"

Mash bill contains 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley.

This bottling is the follow up to the famous 2013 release which won 'Best Whisky in the World' according to Jim Murray and his Whisky Bible.

5000 bottles were produced which is less than third of the quantity of the previous release of Yamazaki Sherry Cask, of which there were approximately 16,000 bottles.

Yamazaki Mizunara Cask 2013

Yamazaki has been thrust into the spot light after their Sherry Cask release of 2013 received the title of Best Whisky in the World title from Jim Murray.  

They release several other limited annual releases including this Mizunara matured bottling.    

Mizunara (Japanese Oak) is famous for imparting it's own characteristics onto the whisky stored within them such as sandalwood and other notes.  

Avonside 1938 Gordon and MacPhail 35 Year Old​ / Pinerolo​ Import

Rumour has it that Avonside was actually single malt from Glenlivet, however the title has also been used by Gordon and MacPhail for younger blends and blended malts.​

Distilled in 1938 and bottled as a 35 year old by Gordon and MacPhail using their Connoisseur's Choice branding in the 1970s.

Yamazaki 2000 Single Casks / Whisky Shop 3rd Anniversary

A Yamazaki distilled in 2000 aged in a Spanish oak sherry butt and bottled in 2013 for the 3rd Anniversary of the Whisky Shop.

The Last Drop 1960 Blended Whisky

A cask strength blend of a truly amazing age. Distilled in 1960, it was blended and decanted into fresh sherry butts in 1972 where it was left to rest and mature until 2008 when it was bottled by hand. By this point less than half of the original contents remained, leaving only enough for 1347 bottles.

Many of the malts that comprise this blend come from now silent distilleries.

This was named Blend of the Year in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2010.

Complete with stopper and 5cl miniature.

A SMWS bottling of Yoichi, distilled on 7th November 1987 and bottled after 26 years in 2014.

This bottling is titled \"Fascinating Complexity and Finesse.\"

Matured in a virgin oak puncheon and limited to 452 bottles.

This bottle is an Australian import.

Yamazaki 1991 Owner's Cask #1V70010

Single cask Yamazaki's are very rare and hard to find these days.

This single cask was distilled in 1991 and matured in hogshead #1V70010 until bottling in 2007.
