Glenmore is a historic Kentucky whiskey distillery, originally founded under the name R. Monarch in 1849. When the original owners went bankrupt in 1898, it was acquired three years later by James and Francis P. Thompson who established the Glenmore Distillery Company. They registered its Kentucky Tavern brand as a trademark in 1903 and launched Old Thompson bourbon the following year.

The Thompson family retained ownership for most of the 20th century, including continuing operation during Prohibition as one of just six companies licensed to bottle medicinal whiskey. They eventually sold it to Guinness in 1991, who closed it down in 1993 to consolidate production at New Bernheim (now Heaven Hill). It has never re-opened and is currently part of the Sazerac Company where it is used as warehousing.

While the flagship brands of the Glenmore distillery were its Kentucky Tavern, Tom Hardy and Old Thompson labels, some of its bourbon was also bottled under the Glenmore and Old Glenmore names in the mid-20th century.

The brand was also used to market vodka and gin produced at the distillery, introduced in 1955 and 1959, respectively. While the trademarks for the Glenmore name are owned by Sazerac Company today, they are not currently in use as part of its catalogue.
