Kyndal International
Kyndal International was a holding company established in 2001 by the South-African born businessman, Vivian Imerman, with backing from the German bank formerly known as WestLB. Its purpose was to acquire JBB, the British-based Fortune Brands subsidiary that owned Whyte & Mackay and its portfolio of distilleries and brands. JBB was initially rebranded as Kyndal Spirits, before a corporate overhaul in 2003 saw the parent operation rebranded back to the Whyte & Mackay Group.
The original Kyndal International entity was renamed KI Trustees, and remains a non-whisky related subsidiary of the Whyte & Mackay Group until its current ownership.
