Midleton
Midleton is the largest whiskey distillery in the Republic of Ireland and is located within the town of the same name in Co. Cork. It was opened in 1975 by the Irish Distillers group as a direct replacement for what is now known as Old Midlton distillery, and consolidate the production of the Dublin distilleries it has closed at Bow Street and John's Lane.
The distillery produces both single pot still Irish whiskey and single grain whiskey that it uses to create blends. Among its brand portfolio are names like Jameson, Redbreast, Powers and Method & Madness, as well as its eponymous Midleton label.
The Midleton brand name first appeared on bottled whiskey from the distillery in 1984 where the inaugural release of its hugely popular Very Rare blend was introduced. Early editions contained single pot still from the Old Midleton distillery before gradually transitioning to spirit from the current site over the years. Midelton Very Rare remain an annual release to this day.
Additionally, the brand is also used to bottle single pot still whiskey such as its Barry Crockett Legacy release, various single casks and its Dair Ghaelach virgin Irish oak collection.
