John Jameson & Son
John Jameson & Son is a subsidiary company of Irish Distillers, and ultimately part of the holdings of French multinational, Pernod Ricard. The company was originally organised to run what had formerly been known as The Steins Family Bow Street Distillery in Dublin, Ireland. John Jameson acquired the distillery in the early 1800s, renaming the company in 1810. It remained a family-owned company until it merged with former rivals, John Power & Son and Cork Distilleries in 1966.
Today, Jameson Irish whiskey is one of the best-selling and most recognisable brands of any in the world and is currently produced in Cork at Midleton distillery. Old examples from Bow Street have become increasingly collectable.
