Bow Street
The Bow Street distillery was the historic home of the Jameson Irish whiskey brand. Built by the Stein family in 1780, it was acquired by John Jameson in 1805 and operated by John Jameson & Sons until 1966 when the company amalgamated with Cork Distilleries and John Power & Son to form the Irish Distillers group. The new company consolidated its production at a new distillery in Midleton, closing Bow Street in 1971. The site is now home to the Jameson visitor experience.
The distillery produced single pot still Irish whiskey which was mostly sold in-cask to merchants who bottled the Jameson brand under license. In its latter years its spirit was also blended with grain from John's Lane.
