Bernheim
Bernheim was a historic Kentucky distillery built in Louisville by brothers, Isaac and Bernard Bernheim. Their company had devised the popular I.W. Harper brand in 1879, distilling it at Pleasure Ridge Park until the distillery burned down in 1896. They built Bernheim to replace it the following year.
After Prohibition, the distillery and its brands were acquired by Schenley Industries who operated it for most of the 20th century. In addition to I.W. Harper, the company also produced the famous Old Charter label there. In 1987, Schenley were acquired by United Distillers who eventually tore the distillery down and rebuilt it, opening New Bernheim on the site in 1992.
