I.W. Harper
I.W. Harper is a brand of straight bourbon whisky owned by UK-based drinks multinational, Diageo. A historic label, it was created by the Bernheim brothers in 1872 and was one of the few labels that stayed in production during Prohibition, bottled as a medicinal whiskey. It was acquired by Schenley Industries in 1934, who produced it at Bernheim until they were bought by United Distillers in 1987.
The current I.W. Harper range includes a non-age statements and a 15-year-old straight bourbon, as well as a cask-finished expression aged partially in Californian Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. The whiskey is contract-distilled for Diageo by Heaven Hill, the current occupants of the New Bernheim distillery and the brand's spiritual home.
