Balmenach is an malt distillery in Speyside and is part of the Scotch whisky holding of ThaiBev, a multinational based in south-east Asia. The company operates it and its other Scottish distilleries through its subsidiary, Inver House Distillers.
The distillery's distinctive style has made it highly prized by blenders, and little has been spared for official distillery bottlings, or sold to independent bottlers. A dedicated Balmenach single malt brand has never existed, with only a Flora & Fauna release while owned by United Distillers, two limited editions as part of Inver House's Highland Selection series and a special Golden Jubilee bottling in 2002. The distillery is home to a gin brand however, Caorunn, which it launched in 2009.
