Akashi
Akashi is a Japanese whisky brand, produced and marketed by Eigashima Shuzo Co and introduced in 2007. Prior to this, the company had only been interested in blended whiskies and as such, its flagship brand was named after its distillery, White Oak. In order to differentiate the two styles, Akashi was the new brand name chosen for its single malt. The distillery was renamed Eigashima in 2019 however, and Akashi is now the name used for both single malt and blends.
The current core range single malt is a non-age statement, which replaced the previous 5-year-old in 2012 due to stock shortages. Single malts are also available in various single cask versions while there are several expressions in the blended whisky format.
