Karuizawa 1969 Single Cask 42 Year Old #8183

Karuizawa produced outstanding whiskies, many of which have received international acclaim, this one perhaps more than most!

It is amazing that whiskies such as this have been bottled in recent years given how few casks of Karuizawa are remaining. There are now not many as old as this and we doubt there will be many (if any at all) that will match this age in the future.

Distilled in December 1969 and bottled 42 years later in August 2012, this is legendary cask #8183  which oddly is a 400 litre ex-bourbon cask.

Karuizawa 1984 30 Year Old Cask Single Cask #3620 / Samurai

Karuizawa is unique, there are so few releases in the last couple of years of this legendary malt which just goes to show how scarce and exclusive these single cask offerings are.

This is one of three Karuizawa single casks all branded under the Samaurai range available in this auction.

Distilled in 1984 and matured for 30 years until bottling in 2015, limited to only 280 bottles.

Macallan 1938

One of two spectacular Macallan's in this months auction, both distilled in 1938 and bottled by Gordon and Macphail at some point during the 1980s.

Please note the smudges on the label, including where the bottle number should be.  We have confirmed the authenticity of these.

Dalmore 40 Year Old

The oldest release within Dalmore's Rare and Prestigious range, this 40 year old is matured in the classic Dalmore combination of American oak and Gonzalez Byass sherry casks.

One of only 1,000 bottles produced and released with a certificate of authenticity hand signed by Richard Patterson and a very elegant leather bound case.

Distilled on 21st March 1966, this bottle is number of 573 of 1000.

Karuizawa 1972 39 Year Old Single Cask #7038

Karuizawa produced outstanding whiskies, many of which have received international acclaim.

Another cracking single cask from Karuizawa, distilled in 1972 and bottled 39 years later on the 4th October 2011. 

523 bottles were released.

Karuizawa 1975 35 Year Old Single Cask #6736

Karuizawa produced outstanding whiskies, many of which have received international acclaim.  This particular Karuizawa was distilled in 1975 and bottled on the 14^th June 2010 for Whisky Live Paris 2010.

This is a single cask release from a sherry butt.

Jura 40 Year Old

Distilled on the 12th of November 1966 and bottled 40 years later, making this oldest Jura ever bottled. 

Presented in a delightful leather box, this is the top of Jura's output.

The original press release states the following: 

\"The Isle of Jura 40 Year Old is the rarest amongst one of the four whiskeys Whyte and Mackay Ltd. are proud to include in Their Rare and Prestige Collection This is a single malt whiskey distilled and filled to cask on. the 12th of November 1966. This rare cask has yielded only 98 bottles for global release. The beautiful Isle of Jura lies off the West coast of Scotland and can rightfully claim to be the least populated community in the world to have its own distillery. Pure spring water, clean fresh air and generations of distilling tradition have quietly crafted a sublime and delicate malt.\"

Karuizawa 29 Year Old Single Cask #8897

One of the recent Karuizawa bottlings exclusive to attendees of The Whisky Show, London and carries a stunning depiction of a Geisha, only half though - the other half is found on a sister bottling from a sherry cask #5347.

This is a single cask release from a single ex-bourbon cask #8383, distilled in December 1978 and bottled in July 2014.

Kawasaki 1981 Ichiro's Choice 

One of the very rare bottlings of Kawasaki by Ichirio Akuto. Only a handful of single casks have ever been bottled from this lost Japanese grain distillery.

This 1981 vintage was released in 2009 from refill sherry butts.

Port Ellen 1979 22 Year Old 1st Release

The first of the incredibly popular Port Ellen annual releases.  Distilled in 1979 and bottled 22 years later in 2001, bottled at cask strength and limited to 6,000 bottles, this is bottle number 5,465.

Port Ellen is the lost jewel in the Islay crown. Closure in 1983 has enabled this distillery to receive a near mythical amount of love and respect. As stocks get thinner on the ground, these bottles become rarer and rarer.

Macallan 1957 Anniversary Malt 25 Year Old 75cl

A legendary release from Macallan, bottled in 1985 from casks distilled in 1958 and 1959.

One of the very few whiskies available from closed Japanese grain distillery Kawasaki. 

Distilled in 1982, this single sherry butt was bottled in 2011 for Whisky Live in Tokyo.

A 1965 vintage sherry cask matured 22 year old Bowmore. 

The Prestonfield House hotel had this produced for them by Morrision Bowmore in the 1980s. 

Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013

Matured in Oloroso sherry casks for between 12 and 15 years , this whisky recently won 'Best Whisky in the World' according to Jim Murray and his Whisky Bible.

Approx 16,000 bottles were released.

Karuizawa produced outstanding whiskies, many of which have received international acclaim.

Another cracking single cask from Karuizawa, distilled in 1981 and bottled 26 years later on the 25th of May 2007.

In 2007 this won a gold medal from Malt Maniacs and their was the overall winner of their Japanese Category.
