Prestonfield House is a historic Edinburgh hotel, housed within the former stately home of the same name. It was built in 1687 for Sir James Dick, Provost of Edinburgh, as his private residence and it remained in his family until 1958 when it became a hotel. It is today owned by the restaurateur James Thomson.
The hotel is significant in the whisky world for a number of private bottlings produced for its by the likes of Morrison Bowmore Distillers and J&A Mitchell & Co. It also started the career of Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Co founder, Andrew Symington, whose company took over production of its The Prestonfield bottlings between 1990 and 2011.
