Ardbeg Kildalton 2014

The latest release from Ardbeg in connection with the North Highland Initiative (NHI) a charity which helps rural communities across the Northern Highlands. This new and elegantly packaged Ardbeg is a combination of first fill and refill ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.  Please do not mistake this Kildalton for that which was released in 2004, 10 years ago.

The Ardberg Distillery lies on the most Southernly part of Islay and on the rugged shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Ardberg is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex whisky of them all. Yet it does not flaunt the peat: rather the peat gives way to the malt, the natural sweetness of which subtly intrudes, producing perfect balance.

Please note that the inner packaging is very fragile and in some cases has cracked or could crack in transit, Whisky Auctioneer takes no resposibility for this issue.

Aberlour A’bunadh Batch #20 (2007)

Aberlour a`bunadh is produced in the tradition of 19th century single malts from an era when villagers would come to the distillery to collect their dram straight from the cask, often in apothecary bottles obtained from the village chemist. Indeed these bottles are the inspiration for the a`bunadh bottle shape today.

Matured exclusively in Spanish Oak Oloroso Sherry butts, the rarest and most precious casks used for maturation and bottled at cask strength, a`bunadh possesses an unrivalled aromatic intensity. A richer mouth fill and flavour complexity is achieved by bottling without the use of modern day chill filtering methods.

Ardbeg 10 Year Old / Introducing

They don't get much peatier than Ardbeg. This is a bottle of their beloved 10 year old, the original release from 2003.

Typically most whiskies are chill-filtered and reduced to a strength of 40% abv. Ardberg Ten Years Old, however, is Non Chill-Filtered and has a strength of 46% abv, thus retaining maximum Flavour, at the same time giving more body and added depth. On adding water a little cloudiness may occur which is Perfectly Natural and is not a matter for concern.

Ardbeg Blasda

The tamed version of Ardbeg, well to a degree anyway, Ardbeg Blasda was peated to an average of 8ppm compared to the more usual 24ppm.  Rather controversially, the Blasda was also bottled in clear glass, at 40% and has been chill filtered, un-like Ardbeg's other releases which are typically un-chillfiltered and bottled in the iconic green bottle at 46% or above. Now discontinued and becoming increasingly difficult to find.

The Ardberg Distillery lies on the most Southernly part of Islay and on the rugged shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Amarone 1966 Recioto Della Valpolicella

Amarone della Valpolicella is an intensely flavored dry red wine made from dried Passito grapes. It is made in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, and is arguably the region's most prestigious red wine.

The amarone style developed as Veneto's winemakers searched for a way to increase the body, complexity and alcohol content of their wines. As demonstrated by modern-day reds Valpolicella and Garda, wines made from locally grown CorvinaRondinella andMolinara can sometimes be too light to give satisfaction. These three mainstays of the Valpolicella vineyard are not renowned for their inherent depth (only Corvina is able to produce wines with much body), a deficiency compounded by the cool growing conditions of western Veneto. In order to concentrate the natural sugars and aromatics in Valpolicella wines, local producers began drying their grapes after harvest, to remove water from the berries while retaining sweetness and flavor. (© Copyright Material, Wine-Searcher)

This wine won a gold medal at Pramaggiore (VE) Italy in dates :1967-1968-1969

As We Get It Cask Strength Highland Pure Malt

Very small quantities are bottled at any one time because this quality of whisky is not always available and as no water is added to reduce it, the proof strength varies with each bottling; the quality of course remains superb. The colour of the whisky is influenced by the oak casks in which it matures and may also alter with each bottling. Some may be brown as a spate swollen burn, others as crystal clear as a Highland loch, but whatever the colour or the proof strength, the contents of this bottle are pure Highland Malt Scotch Whisky exactly bottled \"As We Get It\".

Distilled by Aberlour-Glenlivet Limited, Speyside.
