J.G. Thomson & Co
The current iteration of J.G. Thomson & Co was established in 2017 by The Artisanal Spirits Company, the owner of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. The SMWS venue at The Vaults in Leith was the original J.G. Thomson & Co premises. The company's core range consists of batch releases of blended malts based on the flavour profiles: Smoky, Rich and Sweet. It also bottled gin and rum.
A historic name in blended Scotch, the original company was founded back in 1709 and is currently on its second revival, the first coming in 1983 by Tennent Caledonian Breweries who operated it as a wine and spirits wholesaler in Glasgow.
