New Riff distillery was established in Kentucky in 2014 by Ken Lewis who had recognised the growing desire among the American whiskey enthusiast community for greater transparency about the products being produced. The distillery sticks resolutely to the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, ageing their casks for a minimum of four years, and bottling at 100 proof only from a single distilling season.

The operation distils using both rye and bourbon mashbills, and has developed a strong following for its high quality and straight-forward output.

The New Riff brand was first introduced in 2014 when the distillery began selling its Kentucky Wild Gin. Due to its commitment to adhering to the Bottled in Bond act, New Riff had to wait four years before releasing its debut bourbon whiskey in 2018 and rye whiskey the following year. This remains the ethos of the distillery to this day and its flagship range comprises both its Bottled in Bond bourbon and rye whiskeys alongside a 100% malted rye whiskey introduced in 2021.

The core range is supported by sought-after limited releases, single barrel bottlings and the continued production of its gin, some of which is now also aged in its used bourbon barrels.
