Holyrood
When it opened in 2019, Holyrood distillery was the first new malt whisky producer in Edinburgh since 1925. It is located in the heart of the city, set within the walls of an old converted Engine Shed near Holyrood Park. It was founded by Rob Carpenter and David Robertson and owned through their company, Newmake Ltd.
To date, only new make spirit from the distillery has been made available. It also produces vodka-style spirit drink called Charmed Circle and a gin called Height of Arrows.
While Holyrood is yet to release any of its aged single malt, it launched its eponymous brand in 2021 with the debut of its first new make spirit bottlings. These were introduced as part of a relaunched distillery tour experience.
A variety of new make styles are available, showcasing the range of different yeasts and malted barely types used by the distillery in the production of its whisky.
