Glasgow

Glasgow distillery is located in the Scottish city of the same name and when it opened, was the first new independent malt whisky distillery to commence operations there in over 100 years. It was founded by Liam Hughes, Mike Hayward and Ian McDougall, who run it through the Glasgow Distillery Company, co-called after a historic former enterprise that once ran the Dundashill distillery in the same city.

The distillery opened in 2014, first producing gin before laying down its first casks of peated, non-peated and triple-distilled whisky in 2015. Its single malt brand is called Glasgow 1770 and its gin is sold under the name, Makar.
