Dailuaine
Dailuaine is located in the Speyside region of Scotland and is one of many malt distilleries in the Scotch whisky holdings of Diageo. It was built in 1851, commencing production the following year. Notably, it was the first Scottish distillery to feature a pagoda-roofed kiln, however this was lost in a fire in 1917.
The rebuilt distillery was acquired by the Distillers Company in 1925 and it remains an integral component in the recipes of many of the blends associated with it today. The site is also home to a dark grains plant and processes all of the spent grains from Diageo’s southern and central sites.
Due to the significant demand placed upon Dailuaine by the requirements of various blended Scotch brands, it has never marketed a permanent single malt brand. The first official distillery bottling was released in 1991 by United Distillers, who included a 16-year-old as part of their Flora & Fauna collection. This is the only permanent official release and is still in production today.
A unique Dailuaine brand was introduced in 2015 when the distillery contributed to that year's Diageo Special Releases, however it has never been used again since. Dailuaine single malts are available through Diageo's private casks programme, Casks of Distinction, however its name appears on the labels using the Flora & Fauna branding instead.
