Borders
The Borders distillery is located in Hawick, Scotland. Work began on its construction in 2016 and were completed two years later when it became the first legal whisky distillery to open in the Scottish Borders are since 1837. It is owned by The Borders Distillery Company Ltd, a venture co-founded by four former William Grant & Sons bosses, George Tait, Tony Roberts, John Fordyce and Tim Carton.
The distillery's primary output is single malt whisky, however it also produces vodka and gin, and distilled the first batches of an experimental single rye whisky in 2019.
The Borders brand was launched by the distillery in 2022. Unusually, the debut release was a single blended whisky produced from vatting both its single malt and some bourbon cask-aged single rye whisky it produced in 2019. Malt & Rye joined the distillery's new make spirit bottlings as part of its Workshop Series.
