The Borders Distillery Company Ltd was established in 2013 by four former William Grant & Sons executives, George Tait, Tony Roberts, John Fordyce and CEO Tim Carton. The business was originally established as The Three Still Company, officially changing its name at the end of 2021.
The company broke ground on the construction of the Borders distillery in Hawick in 2016, eventually completing the project in April 2018. it produces a number of spirits brands there that include Puffing Billy vodka and Kerr's gin alongside its Borders whisky which launched in 2022.
