Van Winkle Whiskey Company
An American whiskey company established in 2002 by Julian Van Winkle III following the dissolution of his Old Commonwealth Distillery Co. Van Winkle was running out of stock in his warehouses for his independent bottling operation and turned to the Sazerac Company for a production and distribution deal in order to secure the continued supply of his brands.
The company's portfolio currently includes the Old Rip Van Winkle 10-year-old and Van Winkle 12-year-old Special Reserve bourbons, 13-year-old Family Reserve rye and 15-, 20- and 23-year old Pappy Van Winkle bourbons. They are all distilled at Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.
