Long John Distilleries
Long John Distilleries is a dormant Scottish company that today forms part of the holdings of the French multinational, Pernod Ricard, who acquired it through its takeover of Allied Domecq in 2005. The company was organised as Long John Distilleries in 1960, although it dates back to 1927 when it was first incorporated as Scottish Grain Distillers.
Long John Distilleries was originally the Scotch whisky division of the Schenley-owned Seager Evans & Co, which was later bought by Whitbread and then Allied Lyons. The company was named after its flagship Long John blended Scotch brand, and its distillery portfolio included Strathclyde, Kinclaith, Laphroaig and Tormore.
