Kinclaith
Kinclaith distillery was one of several mid-20th century experiments by blending companies to install malt distilling capacity at their grain distilleries. In this instance, Kinclaith was established in 1957 by Schenley Industries when it installed pot stills at the Strathclyde grain distillery in Glasgow.
Only operational for 18 years, the distillery was decommissioned in 1975 after Strathclyde was sold to Whitbread. The new owners saw greater financial gain in increasing grain production and ripped out the Kinclaith stills in order to facilitate this. No official bottlings of its single malt have ever been released, however several casks have made their way into the catalogues of independent bottlers such as Duncan Taylor, Gordon & MacPhail and Signatory Vintage over the years.
