The Family Silver

The Family Silver was a brand of limited edition, vintage single malts from Highland Distillers PLC. Launched in 1998, the range purported to have been specially selected by the board of directors and appears to have been intended to replicate United Distillers' efforts with its Rare Malts Selection.

Intentionally or otherwise, only two releases were ever produced: a Bunnahabhain distilled in 1968 and a Glenglassaugh from 1973. If there had been any plans to release further bottlings, the merger of Highland Distillers into the Edrington Group in 1999 saw them lost in the shuffle. Both distilleries featured in the range were later sold by the company as well.
