Akkeshi New Born Malt and Grain Spirit - Foundations 4
The fourth and final New Born in the Akkeshi Foundations series was a blend of malt and grain spirit, aged for 13 to 30 months in sherry barrels. The malt was distilled at Akkeshi and accounts for 60% of the blend, whereas the grain portion was imported unaged from Scotland and matured at the distillery in its own casks.
Akkeshi
A Japanese distillery located in the town of the same name on the island of Hokkaido, specially selected for its similar climate to those of the Scottish Outer Hebrides. Its peated and non-peated single malt is all aged on the island.
Kenten Jitsugyo Co
A Japanese company that is primarily engaged with the import and distribution of food products in Japan. The company marketed some of its own whisky brands before opening the Akkeshi distillery in 2016.
