Irish Single Malt 2003 Creative Whisky Co 13 Year Old / The Whisky Barrel 10th Anniversary

This mystery Irish single malt was distilled in December 2003.

Bottled at 13 years old by The Creative Whisky Co as part of the Exclusive Malts series.

Sherry hogshead #200501 was specially selected for the 10th anniversary of TheWhiskyBarrel.com, and produced 180 bottles.

A blended whisky produced by the celebrated Ichiro Akuto. 

I.W. Harper Gold Medal Kentucky Straight Bourbon 1980s

The I.W. prefix in this brand name derives from Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, who founded the brand. With his brother he helped establish Louisville in Kentucky as a centre for Bourbon production. Sadly, he felt Harper was a more marketable name than his own to apply to the bottles. 

This was distilled and bottled at the Bernheim distillery in Louisville in 1989.

United Distillers discontinued the I.W. Harper brand in the US in 1980s, but still exported some bottles like this overseas. The modern iteration of United Distillers, Diageo, revived the brand in 2015.

Irish Single Malt #2 14 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company Batch #1

The second Irish whisk(e)y to be bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company.

The label depicts Aeneas Coffey, inventor of the Coffey still being told to \"jog on\" by his native Irishmen. Ireland was the only country not to adopt use of Coffey stills, being understandably quite attached to the traditional pot still method.

One of 60 bottles.

Islay Single Malt 2008 Cadenhead's 9 Year Old

A small batch Cadenhead's offering from an undisclosed Islay distillery.

Produced from two casks distilled in 2008; a bourbon barrel and a sherry hogshead.

The vatting is 9 years old and was bottled at cask strength in 2018.

This mystery Islay single malt was matured in a refill hogshead before being bottled by The Whisky Agency in 2015.

One of 120 bottles. 

Powers 12 Year Old John's Lane Release​

Powers is a pot-still-based Irish blended whiskey produced at the Midleton distillery. 

This release is intended to evoke the flavours of the old Powers whisky from the John's Lane distillery, prior to its closure and production moving to the New Midleton distillery in 1975.

Matured in a combination of American and Iberian oak.

Port Dundas 2004 Douglas Laing 13 Year Old

From the closed grain distillery, Port Dundas. This is a Douglas Laing bottling, part of their Old Particular series.

Distilled in July 2004 and bottled in March 2018.

Charged from American oak barrel #DL12465.

Inchmoan is a moderately peated whisky produced at Loch Lomond distillery.

Distilled on 25th November 1994 and bottled on 26th January 2005 for 'The Whisky Fair'.

Taken from cask #646, bottle number 11 of 210 is signed by the Whisky Fair directors.

Ichiro's Malt Mizunara Wood Reserve 20cl

Rumoured to be a vatting of the closed Japanese distillery of Hanyu with that of the relatively young distillery of Chichibu, where this whisky was matured, married and bottled.

The whiskies were matured in Mizunara oak casks (rare Japanese oak). 

Given that this was first released in 2010 and and Hanyu has become thinner on the ground since, we can only assume the Hanyu content has or will eventually be removed.

When that will happen or if it has already happened is unclear.

The modern iteration of United Distillers, Diageo, revived the brand in 2015, although it is no longer made at Bernheim, which was sold to Heaven Hill in 1999.

Pinhook 3 Year Old Straight Bourbon Fall 2018 / Bourbon Country

An adventurous young whiskey making company, Pinhook takes it's name for the art of identifying which young horses will be future winners based on their look, build and bloodline. 

Each release features an up-and-coming young thoroughbred on the label and represents the companies approach to acquiring maturing and releasing whiskes. 

Their releases have gathered quite the following and are highly sought after.

This fall 2018 release. Bourbon County was distilled at MGP from a mashbill of 75% corn, 20.5% rye and 4.5% malted barley and aged 3 or more years at Castle and Key in Kentucky, the former Old Taylor distillery.
