Glenlossie 1974 Intertrade 14 Year Old

Intertrade was established in Italy in the early 1980s by Nadi Fiori, a contemporary of Silvano Samaroli and Moon Import's Pepi Mongiardino. His company is perhaps less well known than theirs, but bottled some of the most well-regarded and collectible whiskies on the market.

Whilst overproduction and dwindling demand at the time saw distilleries were closing left, right and centre, the upshot was that these Italian bottlers had their pick of some exceptional casks, the likes of which are jealously guarded now.

This Glenlossie for example was distilled in 1974 and bottled at cask strength after 14 years in sherry cask.

Glen Cawdor 1976 Samaroli / Springbank

The Glen Cawdor name was in part borrowed by Silvano Samaroli from Shakespeare; Castle Cawdor of course being the setting for MacBeth. Samaroli used the Glen Cawdor name to disguise the the real name of certain distilleries, most commonly Springbank, which is generally what this example is believed to be.

Samaroli is perhaps Italy's most revered independent bottler of Scotch whisky. With an impeccable taste in single cask whiskies, and an eye for aesthetics (if not English spelling at times!), he is regarded by many as a visionary. Many of his bottles now occupy deserved sports on the pantheon of whisky greats.

Distilled in 1976 and bottled in the 1980s.

Glen Elgin 1971 Samaroli / Natural Strength

A Glen Elgin distilled in 1971 and bottled in 1985 by Silvano Samaroli for the Italian market. 

Samaroli is perhaps Italy's most revered independent bottler of Scotch whisky. With an impeccable taste in single cask whiskies, and an eye for aesthetics (if not English spelling at times!), he is regarded by many as a visionary. Many of his bottles now occupy deserved sports on the pantheon of whisky greats.

Bottle number 1034 of only 1200 bottles. 

Glen Grant 1963 Samaroli 21 Year Old

Distilled in 1963 by Glen Grant then bottled in 1984 by Aberdeen based R.W Duthie & Co, before being exported to the Italian market by Samaroli. 

Matured in sherry wood casks, this is bottle number 246 of 480.

Glen Grant 1979 Samaroli / Sherry Puncheon​

A Samaroli release of 1979 vintage Glen Grant for the Italian market. 

Matured in sherry puncheon #14933 and bottled in September 1998.

Glendronach 1955 Gordon and MacPhail 25 Year Old / Co. Pinerolo Import

This Gordon and MacPhail bottling was distilled in 1955 and bottled 25 years later in the early 1980s.

Distributed in Italy by Co. Import, Pinerolo.

Glenfarclas 1954

Distilled on 16th June 1954 and bottled on 27th July 2000 after maturing for more 46 years.

One of only 1193 bottles. 

Craigellachie 1983 Small Batch 33 Year Old​

A small batch release from this up and coming Speysider. Distilled at Craigellachie distillery in 1983 and bottled in February 2017.

Glendronach 1955 Gordon and MacPhail 25 Year Old / Co. Pinerolo Import

What a beauty!  As old a Glendronach as you can find.  This Gordon and MacPhail bottling was distilled in 1955 and bottled 25 years later.

Imported to the Italian market by Co. Import, Pinerolo.

The old style 18 year olds produced by Glendronach echoed that of Macallan, they carried vintages.

This 18 year old was distilled in 1972.

Chichibu 2009 Ichiro's Malt Single Cask #640

This is from the relatively new Japanese distillery Chichibu. Distilled in 2009 and matured in a single first fill bourbon barrel #640 until bottling in 2015.

This is one of only 214 bottles at 61.6%.

Glenfiddich 1983 Private Vintage 25 Year Old 75cl / Dubai Duty Free 25th Anniversary

A very rare vintage Glenfiddich, bottled exclusively for the 25th anniversary of Dubai Airport Duty Free..

Distilled in 1983 and bottled in 2008 from cask #10888.

This is bottle number 367.

Glenmorangie 1963

One of the rarest Glenmorangies, this stunning vintage was distilled in 1963 and matured for 22 years.

Matured in bourbon casks before a final finishing period in Oloroso sherry casks.

Glenfarclas 1953 Adelphi 50 Year Old / The Whisky That Cannot Be Named

Very strongly rumoured to be Glenfarclas. 

Distilled in 1953 and bottled in 2003 by Adelphi from cask number 1668.

Glenfiddich 1977 Private Vintage Turnberry’s Centenary

A very rare private vintage from Glenfiddich, distilled in 1977. Bottled from cask #26597 and released in 2006 to celebrate the centenary of Turnberry. It was originally only available from the Turnberry Hotel and Golf Course.

Glen Garioch 1971 Single Cask

Distilled in 1971 when Glen Garioch was known for it's heavily peated malt, this single cask was matured for around 40 years in North American Oak.

A very rare bottling of Glenlochy from within the Rare Malts Selection. One of the harder bottles from the series to find.

Distilled in 1950 and bottled in 1995 this is a very old Glen Grant bottled by Gordon and MacPhail under the iconic George and J.G Smiths Label.

A cask strength vintage offering from the Glenlivet Cellar Collection, a selection of casks specially set aside by their Master Distiller.

Distilled in 1972 and bottled on the 24th August 2005.

Glenfiddich 1992 130th Anniverary Single Cask 25 Year Old / Release #1

A single cask Glenfiddich distilled 24th August 1992 and bottled after 25 years from refill butt #34748.

One of 618 bottles.

The carving on the box was designed by Taiwanese artist Joe Fang, and depicts the distillery's rich history in the style of a traditional Taiwanese window grill.

Glenlivet 30 Year Old Cellar Collection / American Oak Finish

The Glenlivet Cellar Collection is bottled from select casks that have been reserved by the Distillery Manager for their exceptional flavours.

This 30 year old was finished in American oak and bottled in 2001. 

Glenury Royal 1966 Cadenhead's 23 Year Old

Distilled May 1966 and bottled in September 1990 by Cadenhead's. 

Glenury was opened by Captain Robert Barclay in 1833, this Distillery was granted the right to use the ”Royal” suffix by George IV, it was mothballed in 1985 and later sold to be replaced by a housing development. 

Glenfarclas 1966 46 Year Old

Distilled in 1966 on either 22nd April or 3rd June, this vintage release from Glenfarclas comes from Sherry Hogsheads #2603, 2604, 3551 and 3552.

Bottled on 28th September 2012.

Glenfarclas 1968 75cl / US Import

A 1968 vintage Glenfarclas, though there is no age statement, it is understood that this whisky was bottled at 36 years old.

Exclusive to the US market, this bottle was named 'Imported Whisky of the Year' by Malt Advocate in 2004. 

Glenmorangie 1971 The Culloden Bottle

Released in 1996 to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Culloden the final battle of the Jacobites lead by Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Only 2,500 bottles were produced from this 1971 vintage from the famous Tain distillery. Bottled in association with The National Museum of Scotland, this is bottle number 74.
