Bodegas A.Carcelén \"Con Sello\" 1976

Bodegas Asensio Carcelén in the southeastern Spanish DO (Denominación de Origen) of Jumilla, just north of Murcia, was founded at the end of the 19th Century.  Each subsequent generation of the Carcelén family has added another facet to the operation of the estate: first the planting of the first vines, then the addition of the bottling line, then the exporting to international markets, and the current owner (4th Generation) seeking to modernise the estate.

This bottle of the wine \"Con Sello\" is a blend of Monastrell, Syrah and Garnacha from the 1976 vintage.

Côteaux De Mascara 1986

Despite being a thriving wine-producing nation during Phoenician and Roman times, with the Muslim Conquests and implimentation of Islamic Dietary Laws, winemaking in Algeria ceased.  However, with the phylloxera crisis in France in the 1830s, as a then French colony, Algeria (and Morocco) was widely replanted with vines.  Algeria's wine industry later gained further momentum with a steady influx of both German and French winemakers.  However, following Algerian independence in 1962, the wine industry faded and under pressure from their Government, many vineyards were uprooted and planted with traditional crops.

However, the Côteaux De Mascara (and 6 other regions) remain recognised quality wine producing areas.  The main grape varieties are Carignan, Cinsault and Alicante Bouchet.
