Midleton Very Rare 2003 Edition

This famous blend of whiskies was initially produced by Jameson's Master Distiller, Barry Crockett, and has been released in very limited quantities on  an annual basis since 1984 right up to the current year. In 2012, when Barry Crockett retired, in his honour Irish Distillers released the acclaimed 'Barry  Crockett Legacy' whiskey. In 2013, Brian Nation took over as Master Distiller and he has carried on the proud Midleton Very Rare tradition right up to the present day.

The whiskey is aged somewhere between 12 and 25 years and matured solely in Bourbon casks. Each bottle is individually numbered and carries the signature of the Master Distiller.

The pre-2000 editions of the Midleton Very Rare still contain vintages of whiskey produced at the now closed Old Midleton distillery.

Mars Maltage 3 Plus 25 Pure 28 Year Old

A marriage of whiskies distilled at kagoshima distillery (closed in 1984)  and Yamanashi (closed in 1969) and then matured at the current site in Nagano (Mars Shinshu) for 25 years. As the Kagoshima Whisky would have been three years old this three gets added to the additional 25 years hence Mars Maltage 3 Plus 25 Pure 28 Year Old.

At the World Whiskies Awards 2013 in London, Mars Maltage 3 Plus 25 Pure 28 Year Old won World’s Best Blended Malt Whisky. A great award as more than 300 whiskies were sampled in three blind-tasting rounds by  master blenders, distillers, retailers, journalists and brand ambassadors.

One of 3800 bottles.

Bidding advice

You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.

Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.

Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
