Very Xtra Old Fitzgerald 1956 Bonded 10 Year Old 100 Proof / Stitzel-Weller

We don't see vintage Old Fitzgerald very often, so we are particularly excited about this bottle which was distilled in the Fall of 1956 and bottled in 1966.

Distilled by Julian Van Winkle I at the legendary Stitzel-Weller distillery, and bottled a year after his death by his son, Van Winkle II.

Presented in a felt lined, lock-and-key leather box with two 1 oz. glasses.

The original bottlings of Very Olde St Nick were produced by Julien Van Winkle III in Lawrenceburg, using whiskey procured from Heaven Hill distillery. When his stock ran out, the brand was purchased by Kentucky Bourbon Distillers who began to bottle it at Willett distillery. Although the supply for for these newer releases has never been confirmed as continuing to be Heaven Hill stock, it is where most of KBD barrels were procured from, and Van Winkle himself has strongly hinted at the continued connection.

This Very, Very Rare, Ancient Reserve is 20 winters, or 240 moons old and was bottled at a barrel proof of 116.4.

Rumour has it that Avonside was actually single malt from Glenlivet, however the title has also been used by Gordon and MacPhail for younger blends and blended malts.​

Distilled in 1938 and bottled as a 33 year old by Gordon and MacPhail using their Connoisseur's Choice branding in the late 1970's.

Abraham Bowman 1993 Cask Strength 18 Year Old Bourbon

Distilled by the Sazerac company at their A Smith Bowman distillery, using the same #1 mashbill as George T Stagg, this is a 18 year old 138.6 proof bourbon.

The whiskey is named for Commander Abraham Bowman, who led the American revolutionary war unit The 8th Virginia Regiment or German Regiment. His ancestors founded the A Smith Bowman distillery. 

Sold only at the distillery gift shop in Virginia in 2011.

Ardbeg Official Embassy Diplomatic Box 2011 / Sample Miniatures 4 x 6cl and Handbook

As part of the annual Feis Ile celebraions on Islay, Ardbeg distillery appoints a select number of whisky retailers around the world as \"Embassies.\" These have the prestigious honour of being the only stockists of Feis Ile exclusive bottlings from the distillery outside of the Islay island confines.

In 2011, the Embassies were issued with a Diplomatic Box each, this particular example was given to a whisky store in Amsterdam. It contains:

  • Ardbeg 2010 New Make Spirit 69% 
  • Ardbeg 10 Year Old 1st Fill at Cask Strength 56%
  • Ardbeg 1974 Single Cask #4986 45%
  • Ardbeg 1999 French Oak Cask 52%

All of these 6cl sample miniatures were filled on the 7th May 2010. The box also contains a nicely bound Handbook for its \"Drambassadors,\" featuring stories, history and tasting notes.

Independent bottler Adelphi have opened their own distillery. 

This is one of their first <3 year old bottles of new make spirit. The distillery is in Glenbeg, on the far west of the Scottish mainland. 

The new make has been matured in a PX Octave for over 2 years. 

Bottled on the 25th of April 2018.

Ardbeg Twenty Something 23 Year Old / Committee Release

Distilled during the 1980's and 1990's, in the pot-still which now sits proudly outside the legendary Islay distillery. During these troubling periods for the distillery not much stock was kept back for the future. A few casks survived, and it's these which make up this spectacular 23 year old release.

Matured in a mixture of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.

The very first release of Ardbeg Very Young, bottled ‘For Discussion’ with the Ardbeg Committee. 

Contains some of the first spirit created under the ownership of Glenmorangie PLC, distilled during in 1997 and bottled on 12th November 2003.

Matured using first fill casks only 4002 bottles ever existed.

After the auction closing date, the highest bidder will be notified by email. Payment is required within 72hrs. The buyer can then choose to ship, store, or collect the bottle(s). Buyer fees are applied during the online checkout process.  

The seller will receive payment within 21 working days of the end of the auction, directly to their chosen bank account. Seller fees will be applied to the seller’s invoice after the auction.
