Macallan Royal Wedding

The first of the Royal releases from Macallan is a limited edition bottling of only 1,000 bottles celebrating the Royal Marriage of Prince William to Catherine Middleton on 29th April 2011.

Bottled from two casks, both filled on 29th April – one from 1996 and one from 1999.

The creation of this special bottle follows the release of a commemorative edition to mark the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981. This comprised two casks, one from each of their birth years. At the time, the bottle sold out and today is highly sought-after by collectors of The Macallan around the world.

In keeping with this original bottling, The Macallan commissioned the creative force behind the 1981 bottle, David Holmes, who was also one of the architects of their advertising campaign in the 1980s and the early 1990s, to create the label and packaging design.

Macallan 1946 Fine and Rare 56 Year Old Miniature 5cl

A truly stunning and unbelievably rare miniature bottle of Macallan distilled in 1946 and matured for over half a century in sherry wood before being bottling in 2002.

This 56 year old whisky is presented in an elegant lockable hard wood case accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

The interesting curiosity is that Macallan have printed a bottling date of 2002 on the front label, while also on the same label stating it as being \"Officially bottled by hand\".  The rear label, which features the unique bottle reference number \"5bdram\", states bottling date as 8th September 2012.  From our research, this mismatch of bottling dates is regular for these Fine & Rare bottles and is no cause for concern.

Our theory is that the whisky may have been drawn from cask at printed date and filled to a neutral vessel such as a glass demijohn to prevent further ageing, and loss of volume, hence guaranteeing the alcohol volume (abv) remains above 40% - with actual bottling taking place on dates hand-recorded. Please note however that this is an unconfirmed hypothesis.

Bidding advice

You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.

Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum.
