This was for the Decade anniversary of the Number One Drinks company. 

Chita 2011 SMWS G13.1 4 Year Old

A very rare bottling from this relatively unknown and young Japanese grain distillery owned by Suntory.  This is one of only handful ever to be bottled and has been received with great acclaim.

Distilled on 15th July 2007 and bottled in November 2011 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society.

Compass Box This Is Not A Luxury Whisky / US Import 75cl

Inspired by René Magritte's 1929 surrealist painting 'Ceci n'est pas une pipe'. ... This is not a pipe.

The liquid inside is 79% 1st fill sherry matured Glen Ord 19 Year old, 18% Strathclyde 40 Year Old grain and 4% 30 Year Old Caol Ila.

Now for the controversy, apparently by showing the above information Compass Box (and technically Whisky Auctioneer) are breaking EU Law.  The Scotch Whisky Association received a complaint from a brand owner about Compass box being transparent about the contents of a blend.  Under Regulation 12.3 of the Spirit Drinks Regulation No 110/2008, any mention of a maturation period or age could only refer to the ‘youngest alcoholic component’ in a spirit. This rule applies to the ‘description, presentation or labelling’ of a spirit drink – including advertising, promotion and images.

While not normally ones to take a position on such things, we here at Whisky Auctioneer are all in favour of transparency and feel that Compass Box are 100% in the right by showing the full composition of their blend.

A rare 1970s bottling of Cardhu bottled for the Italian market. 

States that the distillery was owned by John Walker and Sons.

Chichibu Chibidaru 2010 / Quarter Cask

This is from the new Japanese distillery, Chichibu. Distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2014, this has been matured in Chibidaru casks. 

Chibidaru are similar to quarter casks, the difference being that while Scottish quarter casks are made by removing staves from regular casks, Chibidaru have shortened staves and are repurposed.

Distilled on 21st May 1980 then bottled 4th June 2009, from single cask #4940.

A rare official bottling from this relatively unknown and young Japanese grain distillery owned by Suntory. The majority of whisky produced at Chita is combined with their malts to produce their iconic blends, including Hibiki.   

Matured for 12 years and bottled in an eye catching simplistic opaque bottle.

An independent bottling of Cambus distilled on 24th September 1991 and bottled after 25 years from a single Refill Hogshead No. 79902.

One of only 190 bottles.

Caol Ila 2001 Feis Ile 2012

Distilled in 2001, matured in Sherry butt number 300897 then bottled for the Feis Ile 2012 at cask strength.

Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2015 for the Feis Ile that has been triple matured in three seperate casks - American Oak, Moscatel, and Sherry Puncheons.

Caperdonich 1999 Gordon & MacPhail

A 1999 Caperdonich from Gordon and MacPhail bottled in 2013. 

Caperdonich was originally known as Glen Grant 2, however the name was changed in 1965 when the distillery was rebuilt.

Caperdonich means 'The Secret Well', which ironically is now silent as the distillery is closed.

Cooley Peated Cadenhead's 24 Year Old​

Cadenhead's also bottle Irish whiskey. 

This is a bourbon barrel matured 24 year old Cooley bottled July 2016.

Ichiro Akuto's Chichibu distillery has be producing malts for a while now, this was released in 2013 and is made from various vinatges from 2008 onwards. All matured in bourbon casks then finished in Mizunara.

Distilled on 24th July 1991 and bottled on 6th of December 2012, matured in a single refill butt #55886.
