Karuizawa 1964 48 Year Old / Wealth Solutions

An amazing whisky and without a doubt a highlight in our August auction. This extremely rare 1964 single cask is arguably one of the most sought after Karuizawa's ever released and will be highly contested in this months auction.

Distilled in September 1964 and matured for 48 years in a single 400 litre sherry cask, #3603 which yielded a mere 143 bottles.  Bottled in December 2012 exclusively for Wealth Solutions, Poland the packaging is also very impressive presented in a part polish black fossil oak box.

Bottle number 43 of 143.

Karuizawa 1969 Single Cask 42 Year Old #8183

Karuizawa produced outstanding whiskies, many of which have received international acclaim, this one perhaps more than most!

It is amazing that whiskies such as this have been bottled in recent years given how few casks of Karuizawa are remaining. There are now not many as old as this and we doubt there will be many (if any at all) that will match this age in the future.

Distilled in December 1969 and bottled 42 years later in August 2012, this is legendary cask #8183  which oddly is a 400 litre ex-bourbon cask.

Please note the condition of the box.

Macallan 1937 Gordon and Macphail

A very rare bottle of Macallan, distilled in 1937.

The bottle had been in the possession of Elgin restauranteur Enrico Martini for more than 40 years.  The bottle was gifted to Mr Martini by George Urquhart, a senior partner of Gordon and Macphail, from 1956.  George Urquhart's father was one of the founding partners in the firm.

This particular bottle was gifted to Mr Martini to mark the year of his birth, 1937.The story goes that this rare bottle is said to have been so prized by Mr Martini that he kept it locked in his safe for over 35 years, only bringing it out occassionaly to show off to customers and family members, hence the remarkable condition it now appears in.

There are very very few examples of this particular bottle, we could only find one example of this type of Macallan bottled by Gordon and MacPhail.

The label is unusual for this era of Macallan from Gordon and Macphail, typically a neck label should exist declaring the vintage.  However, we believe this bottle was produced without this neck label and the vintage declared on the front label instead.

Macallan 'M'

The final premium release within Macallan's 1824 series of whiskies.

In true Macallan fashion the M Decanter is incredibly elegant and impressive to look at, without even considering the contents.  The crystal decanter is designed by Fabien Baron a well known French Director and Art Director and created by Lalique.  It is one of the more difficult decanters to produce as it requires a 15 stage finishing process.

The Macallan M is limited to only 1,750 bottles each year and carries Macallan's reputation of exceptional quality whisky proudly.
