Macallan Sir Peter Blake

This stunning presentation art piece from Macallan is in celebration of eight decades with Sir Peter Blake.  This art work and selection of whiskies was released to coincide with Sir Peter Blake's 80th birthday.

Sir Peter Blake has worked with Macallan on numerous projects including designing the label for the highly collectable Macallan 1926, back in 1986.  He worked alongside designer David Holmes on their earliest advertising campaign, and was the creative mind behind the William and Kate Royal Marriage and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee bottlings.

This art piece follows Sir Peter's designs for eight labels representing each of his eight decades.  Working with a team of highly skilled specialists – a fine cabinet maker, a typographer, a writer and art director he inspired and chose several artefacts and backdrops for the art piece to create a true celebration of his life and the Macallan.

The presentation piece consists of a stunning oak box which opens into a display divided into eight sections representing eight decades.  Each section includes one or more artefacts relevant to the decade and a miniature distilled in that decade baring the label designed by Sir Peter.

Further items to note is a book of illustrations and text about Sir Peter Blake’s life and the Macallan which is printed onJapanese paper.

Their are eight miniatures in total and they cover every decade from 1930 to 2000. Many (not all) of these vintages are chosen from single malts taken from the Fine & Rare collection through the decades including the oldest from 1937, to the youngest at 2002.  

The artefacts chosen represent the four elements of water, fire, air and earth as a direct connection to our whisky making process.

Distilled in 1972 and bottled by Gordon and Macphail in 2000.

Rosebank 1990 Gordon and Macphail Cask Strength

A cask strength bottling from Gordon and Macphail, distilled on the 27th June 1990 and bottled on 30th March 2006 from two refill sherry butts #1605 and 1606.

Oban 16 Year Old Manager’s Dram 200^th Anniversary 1994

The Manager’s Dram series of whiskies were bottled exclusively for employees of what is now known as Diageo.  These whiskies were selected by the respective distillery managers within Diageo malt distilling and bottled at natural cask strength.

Bottled to celebrate Oban’s 200^th anniversary, 1794 – 1994  this 16 year old was released exclusively from sherry casks by distillery manager John William and his employees listed on the rear of the bottle.

Johnnie Walker 1805 Celebration Blend

A near mythical bottle of Johnnie Walker,  Jim Beveridge was asked to create one of the rarest and exclusive whiskies to mark the 200th anniversary of John Walker's birthday.

This exceedingly rare Johnnie Walker was never intended for public sale as all of the bottles were gifted to people who (in the companies opinion) ‘made a significant contribution to modern life’, the company has never divulged this list.

This very limited whisky was produced from only 9 casks all aged between 45 and 70 years old and limited to only 200 bottles.  

The presentation of this bottle is exceptional, the bottle is nestled inside a lockable victorian style writing case alongside a replica antique nib pen and a recreation of John Walker's son Alexander Walker II's handwritten book of blending recipes.  The writing etched onto the bottle reads from the oldest remaining document in their archives: \"The inventory of the estate and effects of John Walker, November 1819\"

Glen Mhor 1982 Signatory Vintage 28 Year Old

A rare Signatory Vintage Glen Mhor, distilled on the 22nd September 1982 and matured in a Wine Treated Hogshead until bottling on the 24th November 2010.

Cask Number #1328 this is bottle number 265 of 272.

Please note there are a few small dents in the tin, as can be expected with these bottles.  There is also some marks on the front label on the tin.

Still in high demand the black whisky, distilled at Mannochmore distillery has become increasingly harder to find.

Bowmore 1990 'The Solution' 21 Year Old
