Mt. Fuji
Mt. Fuji is a Japanese whisky distillery and one of the largest of its kind anywhere in the world. It was opened in 1973 by Kirin-Seagram Ltd, a joint venture between the Seagram Company, Kirin Brewing Co (its Japanese distributor) and Chivas Brothers (its Scotch whisky division). Its diverse ownership is reflected in its production, which is capable of producing single malt whisky, and three different single grains in the Scotch, Canadian and American bourbon styles.
Originally known as Gotemba, the name was changed to Fuji Gotemba following the dissolution of of Seagram and sole ownership being transferred to Kirin in 2002. The name was changed again in 2020 to Mt. Fuji distillery following the launch of its new flagship Fuji brand. Prior to this the distillery was associated with a variety of different product lines.
