Lagg
Lagg is a malt distillery on the Isle of Arran and like the island's other distillery, Lochranza, it is owned by Isle of Arran Distillers. Opened in 2019, the distillery assumed sole responsibility for the company's peated single malt production, allowing Lochranza to focus on its classic non-peated style.
An experimental distillery, it produces spirit using a variety of different yeast strains and sources peat from across Scotland in order to explore the impact of different terroir on its final product.
The Lagg single malt brand was launched in late 2022 with the release of its inaugural bottlings. A trio of different single malts, Batch #1 was bourbon-cask aged, Batch #2 was drawn from oloroso sherry casks, and Batch #3 was from re-charred ex-wine barrels.
The brand's first core range releases followed in 2023 and are the Kilmory Edition and Corriecravie Edition. The former is a bourbon cask-aged release while the latter is finished for six month in oloroso sherry hogsheads.
