Dalmunach
One of Scotland's most modern malt distilleries, Dalmunach was constructed by Chivas Brothers in 2014. It stands on the site of the former Imperial distillery in Speyside (dismantled the year prior), and is named after a water pool in the local area.
Overseen by Douglas Cruickshank, who began his career at Imperial, the design of Dalmunach retains several features of its predecessor, including recycling the red brick from the original mill for its entranceway and wood from the washbacks to clad the walls of the tun room.
The first Dalmunach distillery bottling was a 4-year-old, single cask single malt released by Chivas Brothers in 2019. It, along with three more in 2020 were all bottled as part of the company's Distillery Reserve Collection range.
It was not until 2023 however that the Dalmunach single malt brand was launched. Introduced in April that year, its debut release was a small batch 6-year-old single malt called Wulver, the first in a the Scottish Mythical Creatures Series. It was available exclusively through Chivas Brothers' London-based retail arm, The Whisky Exchange.
