Braunstein
Braunstein is a micro-brewery and distillery in Denmark, founded by brothers Claus and Michael Braunstein. The pair hatched the idea for the project in 1998 while on a fishing trip in Scotland, eventually actioning the plan in 2004 when a German-made brewing set-up was made available for sale in the US by the Baltimore Brewing Company. It was shipped to Køge where it was re-assembled, opening in 2005. The distillery operation was added two years later.
The distillery's first whisky was bottled in Spring 2010 and it has developed a solid reputation in the years since. It produces both peated and non-peated single malts.
The Braunstein brand name is used to bottle much of the distillery and brewery's production, including its beers, aquavit, schnapps and single malts. The first of its whiskies was released in 2010.
The brand's core range comprises its Danica whiskies, with an expression representing each of its peated and non-peated single malt styles. Limited edition releases are also produced regularly as part of its Cask Edition and Library Collection ranges.
