Blackwater
An Irish whiskey and gin distillery that commenced production in 2018. It is owned by Blackwater Distillery Ltd, a company founded four years prior, and it is located within a coverted 1950s hardware store in Ballyduff, Waterford.
The distillery prides itself on its traditional single pot still production, distilled from a mash bill of 100% Irish malt, barley, oats wheat and rye. It released the first bottlings of this in 2022 under the Dirtgrain brand name. It also produces a single malt brand under the historic Velvet Cap label which it revived in 2020.
Although the primary purpose of the Blackwater distillery is the production of Irish whiskey, the spirit is not bottled using the distillery name. Instead, its traditional single pot still whiskies are marketed as Dirtgrain.
The Blackwater brand is used for the company's other spirits which include its Copper Pot Still vodka and No.5, Barry's Tea and Tanora gins.
