Matsui Shuzo is a Japanese company traditionally associated with shochu production. It is headquartered in Osaka and its production facilities are located in Tottori. Although founded back in 1910, the company only applied for its first whisky license in 2015, opening the Kurayoshi distillery two years later.
The company markets the single malt it produces using The Matsui brand name. It also produces two blended whiskies, an all-malt brand called Kurayoshi and a malt-and-grain blend called Tottori. The latter pair are currently both produced using imported whisky from Scotland and Canada.
