Komasa Jyozo Co
Komasa Jyozo Co is a Japanese company based in the Kagoshima Prefecture. It was established in 1883 and is a well-known producer of traditional Japanese spirits such as shochu and sake, as well as producing gin and liqueurs. Its primary production facility is the Hioki distillery in the city of the same name.
The company made a late entry to the Japanese whisky market in 2017, founding the Kanosuke malt distillery not far from its base at Hioki. As of 2021, it has owned Kanosuke through as subsidiary called Komasa Kanosuke Distillery Co, of which a minority stake was acquired by Diageo through its Distill Ventures investment branch.
