Old Forester
Old Forester is a brand of Kentucky straight bourbon, introduced in 1870 by what is now the Brown-Foreman Corporation. In doing so, it became the first bourbon brand to be sold only in sealed bottles in order to ensure quality control to capitalise on the medicinal whiskey trade in the 19th century. It was even named after local Louisville physician, Dr. William Forrester (they dropped the second 'R' from the name when he retired).
Today the whiskey is distilled at the Brown-Foreman distillery in Shively, and the brand has its own visitor experience on Louisville's Whiskey Row, opened in 2018. It is available standard 86 and 100 proof expressions, with single barrels, a straight rye and a variety of limited editions regularly available.
