Kilkerran
Kilkerran is the brand name used by J&A Mitchell & Co to market the single malt it produces at the Glengyle distillery. The anglicised version of Cille Chiarain, the original Gaelic name for Campbeltown, the use of the brand name was necessitated by the fact that the old Glengyle trademark belonged to Loch Lomond Distillers when the distillery was first revived in 2004.
The brand was introduced in 2009 with the first in a series of Work in Progress releases that until 2015 charted the evolution of the spirit as it approached its target age of 12 years. The proprietary 12-year-old was then launched in 2016 and remains the sole core range release alongside regular limited batches of a 16-year-old and various cask strength 8-year-olds.
