George Dickel
George Dickel is an American whiskey brand produced by Diageo at the Cascade Hollow distillery in Tullahoma, Tennessee. It takes its name from the pre-Prohibition company, Geo. A. Dickel & Co, the rights to which were acquired by Schenley in 1938. Having failed in its bid to acquire Jack Daniel's in the 1950s, the company turned to the George Dickel name, launching the brand in 1964.
The brand passed from Schenley Industries to United Distillers, and subsequently to Diageo in 1997. Although initially hesitant about the American whiskey market, the British-based multinational has since heavily invested in the brand and its core range include bourbon, rye, corn whiskey and liqueurs in addition to its trademark Tennesee whiskey spirit.
