Ezra Brooks
Ezra Brooks is a Kentucky bourbon brand with a colourful history. It was first devised in 1957 by Frank Silverman & Co. There had been a shortage of Jack Daniel's that year and the company created Ezra Brooks as a copycat brand to attempt to capitalise on this, leading to a legal dispute with Brown-Foreman in 1960. The whisky was originally sourced from Hoffman distillery and later produced at Medley until its closure in 1991.
The brand was sold to the David Sherman Corporation (now Luxco) in 1993 and it was produced under contract by Jim Beam and Heaven Hill while the company ages stock from its own Lux Row distillery. The current range includes both bourbon and rye equivalents of the Ezra Brokks 99 and Old Ezra 7-year-old.
