Border Blend Scotch Whisky
Carlisle & District State Management Scheme
The primary example of three experiments into the nationalisation of the production and sale of liquor in three UK districts between 1916 and 1973. The Carlisle scheme ended in 1971 when it was privatised by Edward Heath's Conservative government. In its time it notably produced the Border Blend Scotch whisky brand.
