Bidding advice
You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.
Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.
Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).
Incremental Bidding Explained
Our system increases bids based on preset increments, as shown in the table below, whether you set a maximum bid or make a single bid.
Bottle Details
Aultmore 'Tarracroy' 1975 Whisky Connoisseur 18 Year Old
Aultmore distillery was procured by John Dewar & Sons in 1925. So key is it to their blends, that it has been part of their outfit ever since, and has rarely been bottled as an official single malt. United Distillers included in the Flora & Fauna range of the 1990s, but it was not until after Bacardi acquired Dewar's in 1998 that the distillery's excellent spirit was rewarded with its own fully fledged single malt brand. Thankfully, casks have always been made available for independent bottlings like this.
Distilled 6th October 1975, this was bottled 18 years later for J.A. Bell as part of The Whisky Connoisseur range, named after his self-styled nickname. He bottled a whole series of single malts under different guises, which included a revival of the legendary Largiemeanoch pseudonym for Bowmore.
Aultmore
A malt distillery in Speyside and part of the Scotch whisky holdings of Bacardi Limited through their John Dewar & Sons division. The distillery has been associated with Dewar's since 1923 and has remained closely-associated with its blends ever since.
The Whisky Connoisseur
One of the trading arms of former Scottish mail order company, Scotland Direct. The company was established by Arthur J.A. Bell and was based in Biggar in the Scottish Lowlands. Its range included blends as well as independent single casks that were labelled with pseudonyms for each distillery.
