The Whisky Connoisseur was the trading name for the Scotch whisky arm of mail order business, Scotland Direct. It was founded in 1973 by author, activist and whisky lover, Arthur J.A. Bell (not to be confused with the 19th century blender) and operated into the late 2000s. Bell sadly passed away in 2015.
Among the company's offering were a range of blends, often bottled to commemorate historical events. It is perhaps best-known for its independent single casks bottlings however, which were labelled with a unique pseudonym for each distillery.
