Yamazaki 25 Year Old

A limited edition of around 100 bottles celebrating Japanese hospitality. This whisky has been matured for 25 years in the finest Oloroso sherry casks.

The seal on the bottle is a Mizuhiki, a five corded knot symbolising the joining of hands.

Yamazaki 1986 Owner's Cask Mizunara Butt #6G5029

Single cask Yamazaki's are very rare and hard to find these days.

This single cask was distilled in 1986 and matured in a Mizunara butt #6G5029 until bottling in 2006. This was bottled for the 50th Anniversary of La Maison Du Whisky.

Matured in Oloroso sherry casks for between 12 and 15 years , the 2013 bottling recently won 'Best Whisky in the World' according to Jim Murray and his Whisky Bible.

Matured in Oloroso sherry casks, aged between 12 and 15 years old and even 25 years old, blended together with older single malt stock by chief blender Shinji Fukuyo.

This bottling is the follow up to the famous 2013 release which won 'Best Whisky in the World' according to Jim Murray and his Whisky Bible.

5000 bottles were produced which is less than third of the quantity of the previous release of Yamazaki Sherry Cask, of which there were approximately 16,000 bottles.

A highly sought after Isle of Jura distilled in 1965 and bottled in this stunning and unusual packaging.

Bottle number 433 of 449, bottled on 19th July 2001 from cask #590.

Signed by Michael Heads, the old distillery manager.

Yamazaki has been thrust into the spot light after their Sherry Cask release of 2013 received the title of Best Whisky in the World title from Jim Murray.  

They release several other limited annual releases including the Bourbon Barrel.  This is a 2011 bottling from Yamazaki and offers an excellent contrast to the now highly sought after Sherry Cask.

This was the 2011 UK release which was at a slightly higher strength of 48.2% and limited to only 1000 bottles.
