Big Peat The Purim Edition 2018

Douglas Laing's Big Peat is a marriage of only Islay Single Malt whiskies.

This is the Purim Edition 2018 and was bottled exclusively for the Israeli market. Purim is an annual Jewish holiday that celebrates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who was planning to massacre them on the 14th day of Adar.

The bottle features Big Peat dressed as King Ahasuerus.

Bowmore Virgin Oak Feis Ile 2015

A virgin oak matured Bowmore for the Feis Ile. 

One of 1000 bottles. 

Bruichladdich 2007 Andy Fisher Valinch 10 Year Old / Madeira Cask

Valinch bottling number 37 in honour of Andy Fisher of Operations Systems Support. 

Distilled in 2007 and matured for 10 years in Madeira cask #3290. 

Available exclusively at the distillery, this is bottle number 79 of 410. 

Bowmore 18 Year Old The Vintner's Trilogy I / Manzanilla Cask

Bowmore Manzanilla cask finished 18 year old has been aged for 13 years in ex-Bourbon barrels before spending an additional 5 years in Manzanilla sherry casks.

The first of the Vintner's Trilogy which also boasts a 26 Year Old French Oak Barrique , and a 27 year old port cask.

Benriach 1981 Gordon and MacPhail

Distilled in 1981 and bottled in 2003 by Gordon and MacPhail.

Blanton's Single Barrel Gold Edition Dumped 2018

First introduced by then Ancient Age distillery Master Distiller, Elmer T. Lee, Blanton's was the first single barrel bourbon popularised in the US. Ancient Age was renamed the Buffalo Trace distillery by the Sazerac company in 1999.

Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon is normally a 6 to 8 year old bourbon. It is aged in Warehouse H at Buffalo Trace, which is the only metal-clad warehouse at the distillery, commissioned for construction by Albert B. Blanton, after whom the whiskey is named. The warehouse was built shortly after prohibition and being metal, transfers heat quicker than brick warehouses, allowing for more rapid ageing.

The Gold Edition was dumped on 9th February 2018 and is bottled at the slightly higher 103 US proof.

Each bottle of Blanton's has one of 8 different stoppers, each depicting a horse and jockey at a different stage of finishing a race. The designs are all lettered so that a complete set laid out side by side will spell \"BLANTONS.\" This stopper is letter N

A really interesting older edition of Bell's, bottled in the late 1970s.

Blanton's Single Barrel Gold Edition Dumped 2018

Bunnahabhain 13 Year Old Moine Hand Filled / Marsala Finish

Moine is the name given to heavily-peated Bunnahabhain, and this special release was hand-filled at the distillery on 29th September 2018. 

This 13 year old was finished in Marsala casks. 

Bowmore 2001 Whisky Agency 14 Year Old

Distilled in 2001, matured for 14 years in a barrel and bottled in 2015.

One of 120 bottles.  

Bruichladdich 2006 Whisky Broker 10 Year Old #506​

An independent Bruichladdich, distilled in June 2006, and bottled 10 years later in November 2016.

Initially matured in a First Fill Sherry Hogshead before being finished in a Bourbon barrel.

Bottle number 132 of 308. 

Ichiro's Malt Mizunara Wood Reserve

Rumoured to be a vatting of the closed Japanese distillery of Hanyu with that of the relatively young distillery of Chichibu, where this whisky was matured, married and bottled.

The whiskies were matured in Mizunara oak casks (rare Japanese oak). 

Given that this was first released in 2010 and and Hanyu has become thinner on the ground since, we can only assume the Hanyu content has or will eventually be removed.

When that will happen or if it has already happened is unclear. 

Bunnahabhain 2004 Moine Brandy Finish​

A limited edition Bunnahabhain distilled in 2004 and bottled 12 years later in 2017 after finishing in brandy casks, the first Bunnahabhain release ever to have done so.

The Moine expression from Bunnahabhain is their heavily peated spirit.

Bottle number 1547 of only 4152 bottles.

Invergordon 1987 Cooper's Choice 30 Year Old

A  Cooper's Choice bottling of a single grain from Invergordon. 

Distilled in 1987 and bottled after 30 years in a bourbon cask.

One of 250 bottles.

Islay Single Malt 2005 Thompson Brothers 13 Year Old

An independent bottling 13 year old single malt from an undisclosed distillery on Islay. 

We have no way of knowing what the malt inside the bottle is but we can say the smiling visage on the label is either Kim Il-Song, first Supreme Leader of North Korea or Bessie Williamson, former owner of Laphroaig distillery. 

Make of that what you will.

Distilled in 2005 and bottled by the Thompson Brothers of Dornoch Distillery. 

One of only 217 bottles. 

Bruichladdich 2002 The Hogshead Club Whisky 12 Year Old​

A private single cask bottling of Bruichladdich, filled at the distillery on behalf of The Hogshead Club Whisky. This is the first in their private series and is titled 'Amicitia Sublimationem.'

Distilled in December 2002 and matured in first fill sherry hogshead #1268.

Bottled at cask strength in October 2015 at 12 years old.

One of three Bowmore Feis Ile releases for 2016. This has been matured in a selection of four American Virgin Oak barrels and a 1st fill Oloroso Sherry butt which were then re-racked and married together in original oak.

I.W. Harper Gold Medal Kentucky Straight Bourbon 1990s / Japanese Import

The I.W. prefix in this brand name derives from Isaac Wolfe Bernheim, who founded the brand. With his brother he helped establish Louisville in Kentucky as a centre for Bourbon production. Sadly, he felt Harper was a more marketable name than his own to apply to the bottles. 

This was distilled and bottled at the Bernheim distillery in Louisville in 1999, one of the last before the site was sold to Heaven Hill that year.

United Distillers who discontinued the I.W. Harper brand in the US in 1980s, but still exported some bottles like this overseas. The modern iteration of United Distillers, Diageo, revived the brand in 2015.
